Bonfire night is here and the sounds of fireworks are exploding everywhere around me as I write this text and it was a bit like that as we launched our repurposing retired oak whisky barrels enterprise, officially at Roots Christmas craft fair on Saturday 2nd November. We arrived not knowing what to expect and were surrounded by lots of very talented people busily adding the final touches to the colourful Christmas displays of their wares.
We set about setting our stall out as we had practiced the previous weekend at home on the kitchen table which was a very different shape to the stall, so intensified the fear of not putting on a good display in the hope of attracting people to view the pieces we had chosen to display. We eventually got the display somewhere near the original plan and need not have worried about attracting people to our display as we had a constant flow of people who we were more than pleased to interact with. There was a real buzz about the craft fair and people seemed genuinely interested in the bespoke products that we were displaying and were complimentary in their appreciation which was reflected in the numerous purchases on the day.
Our aim initially was to get Woody’s Oak Barrel Creations out into the public domain and now we have achieved that, we wish is to continue to make quality bespoke products out of retired oak whisky barrels which people are happy to have in their homes.
